These are pictures of just some of the damage caused by Hurricane Zeta! There is much more damage than we can't even realize. Catholic Mutual Adjusters have come out to assess the damages and they informed us of some shocking details regarding our insurance coverage. Since Hurricane Katrina, policies have changed as I’m sure you all know, and deductibles for hurricane damage have gone through the roof! We were informed that the deductible for the damage on the Rectory is $9000 and on the Church and Family Life Center it is $99,000. On the Rectory, they will only cover parts of the roof touched by the tree branches and only tree branches that are touching the roof, are covered. Ridiculous as it sounds, it’s reality for us right now. We have to repair what has been damaged regardless of the cost, so we have signed up for the I Give Catholic Campaign to raise the $9000 deductible so that insurance will cover most of the damages on the Rectory as there is no way to meet the $99,000 deductible on the rest. We are asking everyone to please help us by donating to the I Give Catholic Fund starting November 17th and ending on December 1st. Details will be announced or call office for help. We are also setting up a Go Fund Me Account for $32,000 and appealing to all businesses and areas of New Orleans to help with the rest of the repairs to our Church Home! We are all family and we all need to do our part to help repair our Church Home! Thank you all for everything you do! Sincerely: Father Pat Collum, Holy Spirit Church Staff, Finance Council and Parish Council Members
